Frequently Asked Question

We offer trauma-informed therapy using Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Brainspotting, CBT, and talk-based psychotherapy. We use these approaches with purpose, adapting each one to fit who you are, what you’ve been through, and how you want to heal. We also offer journaling classes and are soon launching group therapy and sound healing sessions to support whole-person healing.
Start with the therapist whose bio resonates with you—we write them to reflect who we are, not just our credentials. If you’re unsure, reach out. We’ll help you match with someone who fits your needs, style, and preferences. Finding the right therapist matters—and we’ll walk with you until it feels right.
In our first session, we’ll focus on learning your story—at your pace. We’ll ask thoughtful questions to understand your history, challenges, and your history, challenges, and what you're hoping to change—your goals for therapy. You don’t have to perform or say everything perfectly. Our job is to meet you where you are and create a space that feels safe.
No. You will never be pushed to share more than you're ready for. Therapies like IFS, EMDR, and Brainspotting allow us to process trauma gently — sometimes without discussing the event out loud at all. We move at your pace, honor your boundaries, and create space for healing without re-traumatization.
Absolutely. Many of our clients are Black, Brown, queer, neurodiverse, or navigating identities often ignored in clinical spaces. We show up with cultural humility, lived experience, and deep respect. You won’t have to over-explain who you are. We’re intentional about creating a space where all of you can be held.
Yes, we accept the following insurances: Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, MedCost, Magellan, and United Healthcare. We also accept several Medicaid plans, including AmeriHealth Caritas, Carolina Complete, Healthy Blue, and WellCare. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your specific benefits, copayments, or deductibles. Plans may vary by employer.
Our session rates vary depending on the therapist and the type of service. We’ll go over pricing clearly before you begin—no hidden fees, no surprises. We know therapy is an investment, and we’re committed to helping you access support in a way that’s transparent, respectful, and worth every minute.
We offer secure virtual therapy for clients across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Washington D.C. Not all therapists are licensed in all states, so we’ll help you connect with the right provider based on where you live.
We support clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem challenges, family conflict, LGBTQIA+ issues, and more. Many of our clients are caregivers, high-functioners, or folks who’ve had to stay “strong” for others. If you’re carrying more than your share, we’re here to help you set it down.
That’s valid—and we hear it often. Sometimes therapy didn’t work because the timing was off, the connection wasn’t right, or the space didn’t feel safe. We honor that experience. At Mended, we don’t force healing. We offer space, skill, and presence—so that this time, it can feel different.
